Best way to cook dumplings at home
There are as many ways to eat dumplings as there are people in China.
No matter how you choose to cook your dumplings, it’s good, easy and fun to eat them with different sides.
Steamed broccoli or edamame beans with some flake salt or a spicy and fresh cucumber salad are highly recommended on the side.
STEAM:
Use a pot the same size as your steaming basket. Fill half of the pot with water.
Once the water starts boiling, put the steaming basket on top and put the basket lid on. Lower the boiling intensity slightly.
Let the dumplings steam för about 7 minutes.
If you cook dumplings for more people than one steaming basket can handle, you can put several baskets on top of each other. Switch position of the baskets half way and remember to use the lid. The benefit of steaming your dumplings is that all flavors and nutrients are preserved.
FRY:
Put your dumplings in an oiled nonstick-pan
Fry the undersides of your dumplings to preferred golden color, lower the pan to mid-heat.
Add 2-3 msk warm water only to cover the bottom of the pan, steam under a lid for 5 minutes.
Remove the lid and fry off the rest of the water. Voila!
